LOKRUM - Ksamil

Lokrum, just off Ksamil, really surprised us. It’s a shallow dive, barely 3 meters, which makes it perfect for a long, relaxed exploration, or even a snorkel if you prefer. The wreck itself isn't huge, but it's remarkably intact for its age – a wooden boat, believed to be an old fishing vessel or even a wartime casualty, lying on its side. You can still make out the ribs and deck planks, now completely encrusted with sponges and soft corals. We spent a good hour just finning slowly around it, peeking into crevices where small blennies dart in and out. Damselfish hover in clouds above the hull, and we’ve often spotted ornate wrasse rooting around for snacks in the seagrass meadows nearby. It’s a gentle introduction to wreck diving, ideal for newer divers or those who just want to soak in some history without the stress of depth or current. We love Lokrum for its peaceful vibe and how accessible it is, a real contrast to some of the deeper, more challenging sites in the region. Go early in the morning for the best light, it really brings out the colours on the wreck.
