MARIO ROSELLI - Ksamil

The Mario Roselli site in Ksamil isn't about deep dives or big pelagics. It's an accessible piece of history, just six metres down, making it perfect for newer divers or anyone keen on a relaxed exploration. This isn't some pristine, intact vessel; it’s a dangerous wreck, yes, but that’s its charm. The Roselli was an Italian cargo ship, sunk during World War II, and time has taken its toll, scattering debris and opening up her frame. What we love about the Roselli is how quickly it feels like part of the reef. The metal hull, twisted and broken, is now thoroughly encrusted. You’ll weave through the skeletal remains of the superstructure, spotting small groupers eyeing you from shadowed nooks. The light penetration is fantastic at this depth, illuminating shoals of damselfish that dart between the corroded plates. Look closely amongst the smaller pieces of wreckage for nudibranchs, often brighter than you'd expect against the dulled metal. We'd suggest going in the morning; the water is usually calmer, and the angled sunlight makes the colours pop even more. It’s a gentle reminder of history, reclaimed by the sea.
