HMS Spartan - Naples & Campania

Diving the HMS Spartan off Naples is a proper journey back in time, a Dido-class light cruiser sunk by a German glide bomb in 1944. We love how she sits upright, proud even, despite the damage, with her main armament still angled towards the surface. The bow section is particularly intact; you can really picture her cruising the Med, and the stern offers up some incredible penetration for those with the right training and gear. Shoals of barracuda often circle the mast, while conger eels peer out from the darker recesses of the engine rooms. We’d suggest a sidemount configuration here to really get into some of the tighter spots and appreciate the scale of this wartime relic. Visibility can vary, so pick a calm day if you can, it makes navigating the internal spaces much easier. This is a site that truly tells a story.
