MARIA DELLA SALVAZIONE - Naples & Campania

The *Maria della Salvazione* isn't your typical deep Mediterranean wreck, and that's precisely why we love it. Lying in just three metres of water in the middle of the Procida Channel, this isn't about penetration or chasing depth. It’s a completely different kind of wreck dive, a slow exploration of history, perfect for photographers or anyone who just wants to dawdle. You don’t need advanced certifications here, just a good eye and a calm day. We’ve spent hours finning around the scattered remains, imagining the old fishing boat’s final moments. What’s left of the wooden hull has become a vibrant, living canvas. Look closely and you’ll find damselfish darting through gaps, gobies peeking from crevices, and small nudibranchs grazing on the algae. On a sunny day, the light plays across the timbers, creating shifting patterns that are just mesmerising. Our top tip: go early, before the boat traffic picks up, and take your time. You’ll feel the history here, mingled with the gentle sway of the sea.
