SELINUNTE - Naples & Campania

Selinunte isn't your typical deep wreck, and that's precisely why we love it. This is a shallow, historical dive, topping out at a maximum of two metres, making it an entirely different kind of exploration. You’re essentially snorkelling a piece of history. The wreck itself is a steamship, and while it's classified as "dangerous" in some circles, for us, that just means it's beautifully broken up, creating a fascinating playground. What you'll experience here is the ghostly outline of a vessel, its metal ribs now draped in algae and soft corals, moving gently with the surge. Sunlight filters through the shallow water, illuminating schools of small fish darting in and out of the crevices. We've spent hours just hovering, watching blennies eye us suspiciously from their tiny coral hideouts. It's a fantastic site for photographers looking for unique light and macro subjects, and equally perfect for new divers or those who prefer to keep things leisurely. The ease of access and the historical context really elevate it beyond a simple shallow reef. Our tip: go on a calm day; the visibility really shines then.
