Anadrian - Comino

The Anadrian wreck, off Comino, offers a proper deep dive with a little bit of history. We’ve always found it a solid choice when you want more than just a quick look at a fishing boat. This former Maltese patrol boat, scuttled in 2006, rests upright on the seabed at 60 meters, its structure surprisingly intact. Dropping down, the blue of the Mediterranean can feel endless, then the wreck gradually emerges. You'll see the mast first, then the bridge, still quite recognisable. We love finning along the deck, peering into the open hatches, and imagining its former life. Over the years, plenty of marine residents have moved in. Look for moray eels tucked into the dark corners and schools of damselfish flitting around the railings. The sheer size gives it a more substantial feel than some of the smaller wrecks in the area. It’s a great dive for experienced deep divers looking for a deliberate, calm exploration rather than a high-adrenalin drift. Just remember your bottom time and plan your deco stops carefully.

Wreck History - Anadrian

Year Sunk
1988
Vessel Type
fishing vessel
Cause
scuttled

Resting deep off the coast of Comino, the Anadrian is a small wooden fishing vessel that was intentionally scuttled in 1988 to create an artificial reef. Its location near the world-famous P31 wreck often makes it a secondary objective for technical divers exploring the area, but it offers a unique and challenging dive in its own right. Sitting upright on a sandy seabed at a depth of 60 meters, the Anadrian is strictly for experienced technical and trimix divers with the appropriate training and equipment.

Due to its wooden construction and decades spent at depth, the vessel's structure is slowly surrendering to the sea, giving it an eerie, skeletal appearance. Visibility is often excellent, allowing divers to take in the entire wreck as they descend. While penetration is not advised, the wreck attracts a variety of deeper-water marine life. It serves as a stark, beautiful reminder of how nature reclaims man-made objects, offering a peaceful and profound experience for those qualified to reach it.
