Coastguard Wreck - Kas & Kekova

The Coastguard Wreck, just a short boat ride from Kaş harbour, is one of those sites we always recommend to divers who want a genuine wreck experience without the technical demands of deeper, darker vessels. This small, relatively intact Coastguard patrol boat sits upright on a sandy bottom, shallow enough for long bottom times and great natural light. We love how the Mediterranean sun filters through the surface, illuminating the bow and stern, highlighting the school of anthias that have made the mast their home. You can swim through the bridge, peer into the engine room, and even see the old toilet – a morbid little detail that really brings the wreck to life. Look out for the resident moray eel peeking from a pipe, and we’ve often seen octopus here, tucked away in crevices. Visibility usually sits around 20-25 metres, and there’s rarely much current, making it perfect for photographers or those still getting comfortable inside overhead environments. Our top tip? Get there early, before the boats pile in, for a peaceful, personal encounter with this charming piece of Kaş history.
