Duchess of York - Kas & Kekova

The Duchess of York isn't just another wreck; it's a slice of history sitting upright on the seabed near Kaş, and we love how accessible she is. This old British coaster, sunk by an Italian submarine in 1942, now rests at about 20 metres, making it a fantastic dive for advanced open water divers who want to spend some real time exploring. You'll fin down to find her largely intact, sitting as if she just docked. The bow section is our favourite, often swarming with schools of damselfish that scatter as you approach. We usually spot moray eels tucked into the darker crevices, their heads peeking out from behind rust-coloured plates. There's a real sense of history here, a quiet weight to the metal, and the sunlight filtering through the water often makes for some dramatic photographs. The holds are open, inviting a careful peek inside, where the lack of light often means larger groupers are lurking. If you time your dive for mid-morning, the light on the main deck is particularly good. It's a site that rewards a slow, observant dive, letting the story of the wreck unfold around you.
