ZINNIA - New Brunswick & Bay of Fundy

The Zinnia, a trawler resting at 32 meters, is one of our favorite wreck dives in the Bay of Fundy. It went down in 1981, and since then, the cold, nutrient-rich water has done its work, turning the steel hull into a robust artificial reef. You’ll descend into a murky green world, but once the Zinnia emerges, the visibility often improves right on the wreck itself, almost like it creates its own clear bubble. We love the way the deck fittings and superstructure have become entirely encrusted – it’s less about identifying specific parts of a trawler and more about exploring a giant, barnacle-covered sculpture. Look closely among the anemones and hydroids; you might spot a wolf eel poking its head out, or a lumpfish clinging to a plate. This site is definitely for divers who appreciate the atmospheric pull of a cold-water wreck and don't mind a bit of a current. It’s an honest, humbling dive, and always feels like a proper adventure.
