Indiana Wreck - Ontario Great Lakes

The Indiana Wreck, bobbing gently in the chilly waters of Lake Huron, is one of our absolute favourites for a relaxing afternoon dive. Resting upright at a comfortable 16 metres, she’s a schooner barge that sank in 1918, and time has been kind to her. We love how intact she remains; you can still make out the bow, stern, and the massive hold which often has schools of perch milling about in the gloom. Dropping down, the first thing you notice is the incredible visibility that the Great Lakes are known for – often 20 metres or more on a good day. Light filters through the deck openings, illuminating the ghostly ribs of the hull. We always find ourselves drawn to the intact rudder and propeller, perfect photo opportunities. This site is ideal for intermediate divers looking to explore a piece of history without deep-diving stress, offering plenty to see for a full bottom time. Watch for the occasional crayfish scuttling over the timbers or a curious lake trout darting through the interior. A genuinely peaceful dive.
