Discover Diving - New England
The team at Discover Diving are true New Englanders, tough and practical, but with an infectious enthusiasm for the surprisingly vibrant local waters. We’ve always been impressed by their commitment to cold-water diving done right, an often-overlooked specialty. This isn't a place for sun-drenched resort diving, it’s where you go to learn to dive confidently in challenging conditions, or to take your professional certifications up a notch. We particularly rate them for anyone considering their IDC; Jeff Haskell knows the local environment inside out, and that practical, real-world experience is invaluable. What we really love about Discover Diving is how they prepare you for anything. Think solid drysuit training, meticulous gear checks, and an emphasis on buoyancy control that’ll make you a better diver everywhere. You’ll be exploring wrecks draped in anemones or rocky reefs teeming with lobsters and wolf eels, and the water is definitely bracing. Come prepared for colder temperatures, typically 40-55°F, but the visibility can often surprise you, especially in spring and fall. Our tip? Ask them about their boat charters to sites further offshore; that’s where some of the region’s most intact wooden wrecks lie, often still guarding their secrets.
