Eagle Bay - Daymaniyat Islands
Eagle Bay often feels like one of the Daymaniyat’s best-kept secrets, even though it’s a regular on most dive boat itineraries. We love the sheer diversity here. It’s a comfortable dive, usually pretty mellow on the current front, which makes it perfect for spending time hovering over the reef, really spotting the details. The coral coverage is genuinely impressive, especially the Goniopora. You’ll find big fields of it, swaying gently, providing shelter for all sorts of smaller critters. Look closely and you’ll find those Hand-strapped Crabs tucked into crevices and the curious Banded Tobies zipping between coral heads. We’ve spent whole safety stops just watching the Wrasses work the reef. It’s a superb spot for macro photography, or for anyone who enjoys a slower pace, really getting to observe the small stuff. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of an Armed Squirrel-fish lurking under an overhang.
