Marine Park Wrecks - Tioman Island

We’ve done our fair share of wreck dives around Tioman, and the Marine Park Wrecks remain a consistent favourite. It’s not just one wreck, but a collection of old fishing boats, an excavator, and even a car, all scuttled over time to create an artificial reef. Dropping down, you immediately notice how the light plays through the gaps and holes in the hulls. It’s a proper playground, perfect for divers who enjoy a bit of penetration without anything too technical. Our pick for exploration is definitely the excavator. It’s surprisingly intact and now completely covered in whip corals and anemones. Look closely, and you’ll spot resident nudibranchs inching their way across the metal. Around the smaller boats, we often see schools of yellowstripe scad swirling, and there are always curious batfish hanging around the superstructure. It’s a mellow dive, usually with mild currents, making it a great spot for extending bottom time and really exploring every nook. We’d suggest going in the late morning, when the sun is higher – it really brings out the colours on the corals that have started to colonise the wrecks.
