MINA BAKTI - Tioman Island

Mina Bakti is one of Tioman’s deeper wreck dives, and for us, it’s a site that rewards the extra effort. Dropping down, the first thing you notice is the sheer scale of this old motor vessel. The currents here can be a bit shifty, so good buoyancy is key, but once you’re settled on the deck, it’s a proper playground. We love exploring the bridge area, where schools of fusiliers often swirl so thick they momentarily block out the light. Look closely and you’ll find plenty of resident nudibranchs camouflaged on the encrusted railings. The swim-throughs are inviting, but we’d suggest leaving penetration to those with proper wreck training; there’s still plenty to see on the exterior. Keep an eye out for larger pelagics cruising by in the blue – sometimes a lone trevally will make a pass. It’s a site that suits experienced divers comfortable with depth and variable conditions, offering a really solid wreck experience rather than just a quick peek.
