L'HERMINIE - North Shore

L’Herminie sits in what we think is the perfect shallow spot, about 10 meters, making it an ideal long dive. This 91-meter French frigate went down back in 1838, and it’s a proper wreck, not just a few scattered timbers. You’ll find the bow and stern mostly intact, with sections of the hull still standing proud, creating these fantastic swim-throughs. Sunlight filters down, illuminating schools of sergeant majors darting through the ribs, and we always spot parrotfish nibbling at the encrusted metal. What we love about L’Herminie is how the sea has truly reclaimed it. The wreck itself is a magnet for juvenile barracuda, and we’ve often seen green morays peeking out from beneath collapsed decking. Our best advice? Go on a day with calm seas; the visibility improves dramatically, and you can spend a solid hour just exploring the different sections, maybe even finding some old cannonballs if you’re lucky. It's an easy dive, perfect for wreck enthusiasts who appreciate history and don't mind a leisurely pace.
