Balise de Petit Canal - Cousteau Reserve
Coral Garden is one of those sites that always leaves us feeling refreshed, especially after a couple of deeper dives. It’s a gentle drop-off, hitting a maximum of 16m, which means plenty of bottom time and a relaxed pace. We love it for easy-going dives, whether you’re easing back into things or looking for a cruisey second dive. The wall itself is a tapestry of hard and soft corals, punctuated by anemones that shimmer in the current. What really stands out here are the smaller inhabitants. We’ve seen Lettered Mitres slowly inching across the sand, and if you’re patient, you might spot a Green Turtle munching on algae. The schools of fusiliers here can be dense, a living curtain that parts as you glide through. Keep an eye out for Cowries and the Strawberry Drupes tucked into crevices – they’re everywhere once you start looking. The visibility averages around 16m, which is perfectly good for appreciating the nuances of the reef, and the sandy plateau at the bottom is a great place to slow down and scour for critters like the Pronghorn Spiny Lobster. It’s a truly lovely spot for anyone who enjoys a calm, detailed exploration rather than chasing big pelagics.
