Nakjnin Blue - Kerama Islands

Nakjnin Blue, for us, is all about the light. You drop down into this labyrinth of swim-throughs and small caves, and the way the sunlight slices through the openings is just hypnotic. Shafts of light pierce the blue, illuminating patches of the fluorescent grass coral and those big, closed brain corals on the walls. It’s a sensory experience, feeling the subtle surge, watching dust motes dance in the sunbeams. We love exploring the smaller cracks, peering in for the flash of a ghost cardinalfish or the delicate frills of a bicolor nudibranch. Keep an eye out for Christmas tree worms, their feathery crowns unfurling from the coral, and those fat, green bubble algae. While the big pelagics aren't the main draw here, the sheer beauty of the light play and the intimate details of the reef make it a genuinely standout dive. It's a photographer's dream, especially mid-morning when the sun is high. We’d suggest bringing a torch to peek into the darker corners, you never know what you might find tucked away.
