HSIN MAO NO.2 - Kenting National Park

You know, when we talk about wreck diving, the HSIN MAO NO.2 in Kenting usually comes up. This isn’t some grand ocean liner, it’s a barge, but it’s fantastic because it’s so accessible and surprisingly atmospheric. Sunk intentionally in about 12 meters, the wreck is largely intact, sitting upright, and you can easily swim through some of the open cargo holds. We love how the light filters down, creating these shifting patterns on the deck, and you’ll often find schools of rabbitfish darting in and out of the shadows. It's an easy dive, perfect for newer wreck enthusiasts, or just a relaxed second dive. The wreck itself is a magnet for marine life. We’ve seen octopuses tucked into crevices, lionfish hovering motionless under ledges, and nudibranchs crawling along the rust-coloured metal. Our favourite part is the crane, which provides a great photo opportunity, covered in colourful soft corals. It's a proper little artificial reef, and while it’s not particularly deep, the character of the wreck and the amount of life it supports make it a solid choice in Kenting.
