杉福沉船群 Shanfu Boat Wrecks - Kenting National Park

Shanfu Wrecks is a pretty solid reason to come diving in Kenting, especially if you’re a fan of metal under the water. It’s not just one wreck, you see. There are three or four fishing boats scattered across the seabed at 27m, all looking like they took a pounding. What we love about this site is how the wrecks have completely transformed, becoming these artificial reefs, absolutely plastered in corals. Drop down and you’re immediately into a scene of quiet decay. The largest wreck, probably 20 metres long, is our favourite. We often find ourselves just hovering, watching schools of snapper drift through the open holds. Look closely and you’ll spot nudibranchs on the encrusting sponges and lionfish patrolling the edges. You can penetrate some of the smaller wheelhouses, but it’s tight, so leave the big cameras outside. The visibility can be a bit hit-and-miss here, especially after a good rain, so aim for a sunny day if you can. It’s a good one for intermediate divers who want something a bit more interesting than just a reef.
