Ying Hai - Kenting National Park

The Ying Hai is a relative newcomer to Kenting’s dive scene, but it’s already making a name for itself. We love a good wreck, and this container ship, deliberately sunk in 2018, is settling in beautifully. Dropping to a max of 30 metres, it’s a site for advanced divers comfortable with deeper profiles. From the surface, you’d never guess the scale of it. Once you descend, the sheer size of the hull emerges from the blue, a stark, impressive structure. We found the swim-throughs particularly engaging; the cargo holds are open, inviting exploration. Look for the schools of glassy sweepers that have taken up residence inside, glimmering in the shafts of light. Outside, the superstructure is slowly becoming encrusted with new coral growth, and we’ve seen everything from lionfish tucked into corners to barracuda cruising the deck. The Ying Hai offers a compelling mix of human history and nascent marine ecology, perfect for those who enjoy the thrill of exploring a structure that’s still very much in transition. We’d suggest going early in the morning for the best light and fewer divers.
