U-853 - New England

Dropping onto the U-853, you immediately feel the history. This German U-boat, sunk in the final days of WWII, lies broken in two pieces, offering distinct exploration zones. We typically start at the conning tower, often shrouded in schooling Pollock, before finning along the deeper hull section. Look out for wolfish in the darker nooks and strap-free divers often spot a lone monkfish tucked under plating. It’s a serious wreck, definitely for experienced cold water divers who appreciate a challenging, significant piece of history rather than a coral garden.
