Banc Moidubis Kebir - Gulf of Tadjoura
When we talk about North Sea diving in Denmark, Grønnerevle often comes up, and for good reason. It’s a proper reef system, not just some rocks, which is fairly unique for this coastline. We’ve had some fantastic dives here, especially when the conditions line up. Think substantial boulders and rocky outcrops creating crevices and overhangs, perfect for a bit of exploration. What makes Grønnerevle a standout for us? It’s the sheer density of life clinging to those rocks. We’re talking about sea stars, some truly enormous, dotted everywhere like colourful confetti. You’ll spot dab and fluke flattened against the sand, and if you’re patient, a greater weever half-buried, waiting. Our favourite dives here happen on a slack tide, when the current backs off and you can really take your time poking around the nooks where you might even catch a glimpse of a harbour porpoise swooping past in the distance. The visibility can be a bit variable, but when it’s good, it’s a very cool, distinctly North Sea experience. It’s definitely a dive for those who appreciate the subtle beauty of temperate waters, not just big pelagics.
