Alimdat - Fujairah
Alimdat, a launch vessel, sits upright at 31 metres, making it a great Fujairah wreck for those comfortable with deeper dives. We love the way she’s already become part of the reef, encrusted in soft corals that sway gently with the current. This isn't a massive freighter, but the compact size means you can really spend time exploring the deck and superstructure without feeling rushed. Look inside the wheelhouse for glassfish schooling tightly, almost pulsing, and keep an eye on the sand around the stern for stingrays. The resident moray eels are pretty bold here, often peeking out from pipes and crevices. Visibility can be a bit variable, but on a good day, the light plays beautifully through the water, illuminating the wreck’s details. We’d suggest going early to avoid any potential afternoon chop. It’s a solid dive for advanced open water divers keen on photography, offering plenty of interesting angles and macro opportunities on the colonised metalwork.

The story behind the sinking of the Alimdat is a mystery, its history lost to the waters of the Gulf of Oman. This small launch vessel now rests on the seabed off Fujairah at a depth of 31 meters, offering an intriguing dive for advanced open water divers. Its 'dangerous wreck' classification suggests divers should approach with caution, being mindful of sharp, decaying metal and potential entanglement hazards from old ropes or nets.
Despite the lack of historical records, the Alimdat provides a fantastic dive. As a small, compact wreck, it's easy to explore in a single descent. The structure has become a magnet for marine life in the nutrient-rich waters of the UAE. Divers can expect to be greeted by schools of snapper and fusiliers, while lionfish hunt in the shadows and moray eels peer out from holes in the hull. It's a perfect example of how the sea quickly reclaims man-made objects, turning them into vibrant, living reefs.
