PGM-11 - Koh Rong Archipelago

PGM-11 is one of those sites we always make time for, especially when we’ve got newer divers in the group or just fancy an easy, relaxed exploration. It’s a shallow wreck, barely 5 metres deep, so you get incredible light penetration, even on a cloudy day. What we love about this wreck is its story, a US Navy patrol gunboat from the Vietnam War that now rests on its side. You can still make out the gun turrets and the general shape of the vessel, but it’s the way the reef has utterly claimed it that truly stands out. Schools of rabbitfish drift over the deck plating, now carpeted in soft corals, and we’ve spotted plenty of lionfish tucked into crevices. Keep an eye out for moray eels peeking from the shadows under the hull. The visibility here is usually great, letting you take your time and soak it all in. We’d suggest going in the morning; the water often feels calmer, and you can enjoy the peace before other boats arrive. It’s a gentle introduction to wreck diving, perfect for building confidence without the usual depth or current challenges.
