Kapal Indah - Sulawesi

Kapal Indah is one of those wrecks that really tells a story, even if we don't know all the details. We're talking about a classic wooden cargo vessel, probably a pinisi, lying on its side. It’s well broken up now, but that just adds to the charm; you’re not swimming through a sterile metal tube. Instead, you'll navigate through scattered ribs and planks, each piece draped in soft corals and sponges. We love poking around the bow and stern sections, which are still somewhat intact, offering a chance to picture her sailing days. The real draw here, beyond the history, is how completely nature has reclaimed it. Schools of yellow-lined snapper swirl around the main deck area, and if you look closely, you'll spot resident moray eels peeking from beneath the larger timbers. Keep an eye out for robust ghost pipefish tucked into the gorgonian fans that have taken root. It’s a gentle dive, perfect for photographers or anyone who enjoys exploring a site at a leisurely pace, allowing the wreck's character and inhabitants to reveal themselves. Go early to get the best light filtering through the water column.
