Likuan 3 - Sulawesi

Likuan 3, for us, is all about the wall. It’s a sheer drop, just off Bunaken Island, that never fails to impress with its sheer scale and density of corals. You kick out over the shallows, maybe a turtle is grazing, then the reef just falls away beneath you into the blue. We love drifting along this vertical garden, letting the current do the work. The light filtering down through the water, illuminating massive table corals and those vibrant staghorn formations, it’s a real spectacle. Keep an eye out for whitetip reef sharks patrolling the deeper sections. We’ve also had some fantastic encounters with green rough-backed puffers here, just bobbing in the current, completely unbothered. This site is great for experienced divers who appreciate a good wall dive and don’t mind a bit of current to keep things moving. We’d suggest going in the morning; the light seems to hit the wall just right then, making the colours pop even more.
