Flora Bay Divers - Perhentian Islands
Look, we’ve dived a lot of places in Malaysia, and Perhentian is always high on our list for a relaxed trip. The team at Flora Bay Divers are a big part of why we keep coming back. They’ve been here forever, since ’94, and it shows in how smoothly everything runs. This isn't a flashy operation, it's just solid, friendly, and utterly dependable. If you’re thinking about taking your PADI Open Water, or even pushing towards your IDC, this is our pick. Their instructors have that patient, reassuring vibe that makes learning feel genuinely fun, not stressful. We’ve watched them with new divers, and they just have a way of making everyone feel confident, even when they’re struggling with mask clearing. The dive boats are pretty standard local longtail affairs, but the crews are amazing at finding the quieter spots, even when the main sites like Shark Point are busy. We love their afternoon dives; the light is often softer, and you get to really appreciate the colours of the anemones and the clownfish darting around. Go in the shoulder season, April or October, for fewer crowds and still great visibility.
