MV Suntud Samut 4 - Gulf of Thailand

The MV Suntud Samut 4 isn't just another lump of metal on the seabed. This former Thai Navy landing craft, resting upright at 26 metres, has a real presence. We love the way the superstructure has collapsed just enough to create swim-throughs without feeling too confined. It’s a proper wreck penetration site for those with the right training; you can noodle through the vehicle deck and explore the holds, where we’ve often found schooling batfish hanging in the shadows. Visibility in the Gulf can be hit or miss, but even on a greener day, the wreck’s shape is discernible from a distance, rising off the sandy bottom. Our favourite part is the bow section; the anchor chains are still intact, and it’s completely covered in whip corals and anemones. Look closely around the mast for banded sea snakes winding their way through the growth. It's an ideal dive for intermediate wreck enthusiasts who appreciate a bit of history and don't mind a leisurely pace to take it all in. We’d suggest going early to avoid the crowds from the day boats.
