Arche aux gorgonnes - Loyalty Islands
Chunchacah is often the second dive after Maracaibo, and it’s a good follow-up. We love how the reef stretches out, a constant 21 meters, giving you plenty of time to explore the big coral heads and fan corals. It’s a drift, naturally, and while the currents can be a bit shifty, they usually just carry you along nicely. You’ll drift past thickets of sea plums and sponges, with gorgonians swaying in the flow. Keep an eye out for eagle rays gliding past, and we’ve often spotted turtles here, too. The reef is busy with trumpetfish poking around, and the occasional Caribbean chestnut moray peeking out from a crevice. It’s a fantastic site for those who enjoy a relaxed drift over a healthy reef, with good chances of seeing some bigger pelagics along with the smaller reef residents.
