Dahab de Nous - Loyalty Islands

Home Point is one of our go-to spots when we’re in the Bay of Islands, especially if the weather’s a bit choppy elsewhere. It’s got these cool fingers of reef that run out from shore, starting shallow and sloping down to about 15 metres. We love dropping in and just cruising along the kelp, watching the light filter through the fronds. The real joy here is the macro life. We always find ourselves lingering, peering into every crevice. You’ll spot nudibranchs in colours you didn’t know existed, and the banded morwong are always out and about, bold as brass. We've even seen the odd kingfish patrol past, adding a bit of excitement to the calm. Visibility averages around 12 metres, which is usually plenty to appreciate the details. It’s a site that rewards a slow, observant dive. If you're into photography, particularly wide-angle in the kelp, this place is fantastic.
