DOOSTER-DEB - Sandy Island

Dooster-Deb is one of those wrecks that just hits right, especially when the light pours down. We’ve always found it a solid pick if you’re looking for something more substantial than a reef dive without going super deep. This old freighter sits upright, her superstructure still largely intact, which means plenty of swim-throughs and shadowed compartments to poke around in. You’ll feel that satisfying crunch of sand under your fins as you approach the bow, where the chain still stretches out, leading your eye down to the anchors. As for who calls it home, expect the usual suspects: schools of grunts hanging like curtains in the cargo holds, squirrelfish darting into the darker corners, and always a few barracuda eyeing you from a respectful distance. Our favourite part has to be the bridge area – it's surprisingly open, allowing light to filter through, illuminating the sponges and soft corals that have really taken hold there. Keep an eye out for moray eels tucked into the crevices; they seem to love the nooks this wreck provides. It’s an easy, rewarding dive, perfect for knocking out two tanks and really getting to know a wreck.
