With 288+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, dolphins, eagle rays, humpback whales and nurse sharks - Pinel offers some of Sandy Island's richest diving. Water ranges 27-30°C, warmest August, September, October.
Pinel, near Sandy Island, is a straightforward, shallow dive, perfect for newer divers or a relaxed second tank. It’s mostly sand, though you’ll find small patch reefs scattered around holding a decent number of juvenile fish. We’ve spotted stingrays here, sometimes tucked under the sand, and it’s a good spot for macro if you take your time. At 9 meters, it’s a gentle drift.
