CASTORE - Aruba Leeward Coast

The Castore is a dive for proper wreck hounds, sitting upright at 30 metres. It’s an old Italian cargo vessel, torpedoed by a German U-boat back in 1943, and the history just adds to the atmosphere. We love how much of the ship is still intact; the bow and stern are remarkably well-preserved. You can peer into open holds, imagine the cargo, and swim along the superstructure. Look out for barracuda lurking in the shadows, and schools of grunts and snapper darting through the rusted metalwork. It’s a slightly deeper dive, so good buoyancy control is key, but the visibility here usually means you can see the whole wreck appearing out of the blue as you descend. It’s our pick for a dive that offers both history and some serious exploration.
