Shipwreck - Aruba Leeward Coast

Aruba’s Leeward Coast is home to several wrecks, but for a smaller, more intimate exploration, we’re always drawn back to the Shipwreck site. It’s not one of the massive cargo ships, which is precisely why we love it. This is a wreck where you can really take your time, tracing the outline of the hull, peeking into what would have been the bridge, and imagining the life it once held. Our favourite part is watching how the reef has truly enveloped the structure. Hard corals cling to every surface, creating miniature grottoes where you’ll spot tobacco basslets darting between the polyps. Keep an eye out for the cherub pygmy angelfish, their electric blue and yellow a vibrant contrast against the rusted metal. We’ve often seen hawksbill turtles here, quietly grazing on sponges attached to the ship's framework. Visibility is generally good, allowing for some decent wide shots if you’re into photography. It's an excellent site for divers who appreciate the quiet beauty of a wreck reclaimed by the ocean, without needing to penetrate tight spaces.
