Dive Abaco - Abaco

Dive Abaco is one of those spots that just sticks with you, a classic Abacos drift. We’ve done it in a gentle current, just cruising past brain corals and barrel sponges, and in a ripping flow where the ride felt more like a low-altitude flight. Either way, it’s a pure delight. We often drop in at the north end of the reef, letting the water do all the work as we watch for whatever surprises the current delivers. You’ll see plenty of the usual Caribbean suspects, of course: schools of grunts hanging out under ledges, sharpnose puffers darting through the coral, spotted trunkfish looking perpetually surprised. But it's the smaller, more unusual finds that make Dive Abaco special for us. Keep your eyes peeled in the sandy patches for scrawled soles, almost invisible against the bottom, or the quick-moving pearl blennies popping in and out of their holes. We’ve even been lucky enough to spot a green turtle lazily finning its way across the reef, and once, a fleeting glimpse of a Blainville's beaked whale off in the blue, though that’s definitely a lottery win. Dive Abaco is a great pick for intermediate divers who appreciate a good drift and are happy to just let the reef unfold around them. It's less about hunting for one specific creature and more about soaking in the whole, vibrant ecosystem.
