Sapona Wreck - Abaco

The Sapona, a concrete-hulled cargo ship, met its end in a hurricane back in 1926, and now lies broken into several large sections near Bimini. We like it as a shallow, easy dive, usually around 6-7 meters, making it ideal for newer wreck divers or those looking for an extended bottom time. You’ll find schools of grunt and snapper schooling around the larger pieces, and often a curious barracuda hanging out in the shadows. Visibility here is typically good, letting you appreciate the sheer size of the hull plates and the way the coral has started to reclaim the structure. It’s a great spot for photography, especially with the sun glinting off the sand.
