Sugar Wreck - Abaco
The Sugar Wreck, just off Great Guana Cay, is one of those easy-going sites that always puts a smile on our faces. It's a wooden sailing vessel, likely a schooner, that ran aground and broke up in about 6 metres of water. What’s left isn't a grand, intact ship, but rather a sprawling debris field of ribs, planks, and even some old ballast stones scattered across the sandy bottom. This dispersal creates a fascinating habitat for all sorts of reef fish, we often see snapper, grunts, and parrotfish picking through the wreckage. It’s perfect for a second dive or even a snorkel, especially if you’re keen on exploring an accessible piece of history without the need for deep diving.
