Miami Rita wreck - Andros

The Miami Rita, sitting off Andros, is one of those wrecks we keep coming back to. It’s a purposeful dive, meaning she was sunk for us, and you can tell. This 100-foot coaster rests upright, pretty much intact. We love how the wheelhouse is still there, allowing for a tight but rewarding swim-through if you’re comfortable. Look for the resident barracuda, often hanging out in the cargo hold, and we’ve seen plenty of nurse sharks cruising the sandy perimeter. The structure provides a great home for schools of snapper and grunts, and the coral growth, though not ancient, is really taking hold. We’d suggest hitting this one earlier in the day; the light penetration into the holds is just better, really highlighting the structure and the fish inside. It’s a solid wreck dive, perfect for those who enjoy exploration without extreme depth or current.
