Blue Chromis Reef - Salt Island & Cooper Island

Dream Weaver is a fantastic pinnacle dive in the Nukurauvula Passage, a site we always aim for when the conditions are right. Dropping onto the top in about six metres, you’re met with a carpet of anemones, all waving gently in the current, each one home to a flurry of anemonefish. It’s an instant sensory overload, a kaleidoscope of orange and pink. The pinnacle itself slopes down to 30 metres, where it meets a ridge. We love following this ridge, one side dropping into the blue, the other leading back towards the main reef. Keep an eye out for Black-belt hogfish picking through the corals and the flashes of Midnight Angelfish. The currents here can be zippy, especially closer to the mouth of the passage, so it’s best for divers comfortable with a drift. We’ve seen blacktip, whitetip, and grey reef sharks cruising off the deeper edges, and the schools of Ambon Pullers and Scaly Pullers can be so thick they almost block the light. Our favourite part? Finding the smaller stuff hiding in the whip corals – look for those tiny Finespot Eviotas.
