Grote Knip - Curaçao Southeast

Grote Knip. Ah, Grote Knip. We’re often wary of sites attached to popular beaches, but this one still holds a special place. It’s got that classic Curaçao wall dive feel, straight off the beach into clear blue. You kick out past a gentle slope of sand and rubble, then the reef really starts to build. What we love here is the sheer density of some of the coral formations as you head west. Massive starlet corals grow to impressive sizes, interspersed with some beautiful boulder brain coral and patches of maze coral. Keep an eye out for the clown wrasse darting between the polyps, and those rather bold longspine squirrelfish peeking from under ledges. We’ve found the best time to dive it is early morning, before the beach gets too busy, or late afternoon for a quieter experience. Currents are typically mild, making it a very relaxed drift back to your entry point. It's a great spot for an easy shore dive, perfect if you're not looking for anything too strenuous but still want to see some healthy reef.
