Playa Jeremi - Curaçao Southeast

Playa Jeremi is one of those spots that feels like you’re doing something a little illicit, even though it’s totally above board. The shore entry is a walk down a steep concrete path, so pack light. Once you’re in the water, it’s a quick surface swim past a sandy patch, then the reef really opens up. We love the immediate drop-off here, taking you down to an expanse of sand and then the main wall. We’ve seen some great stuff on that wall: diamond lizardfish perched on coral heads, little barred hamlets flitting about, and a surprisingly chill batfish or two. Keep an eye out for hawksbills cruising past; they’re pretty regular here. The coral itself is healthy, with some nice grooved brain coral formations and plenty of lettuce coral. Our favourite is probably the quiet, sandy bottom at the base of the wall. It’s a great place to spot spaghetti eels stretching out of their holes, or a spinythroat scorpionfish perfectly camouflaged. We’d suggest going early, before the beach gets busy, for the calmest surface conditions. It’s a pretty straightforward dive once you’re in, making it a good choice for newer divers comfortable with shore entries, but interesting enough for more experienced eyes.
