Playa Kalki - Curaçao Southeast

Playa Kalki, or Alice in Wonderland as some call it, is a real contender for our favourite shore dive on Curaçao’s west end. We love that easy entry – just a short walk down the beach and you're finning over a shallow, sandy expanse dotted with small coral heads. Don’t rush the shallows here; we’ve spotted Chain Morays tucked into crevices and occasionally a False Moray, which is always a treat. The real magic starts when the reef wall drops off. It's a proper wall, not just a slope, and we found it absolutely covered in Spiny Flower Coral. Keep your eyes peeled for Pacific Spotted Scorpionfish camouflaged against the sponges; they're masters of disguise. For macro lovers, there are plenty of Saddled Blennies peeking out of holes and the occasional Yellowline Goby zipping across the sand. We usually find the visibility excellent, often 20 metres plus, making it easy to spot Green Turtles gliding along the wall. This site is great for divers who appreciate a relaxed pace and a keen eye for smaller, harder-to-find critters.
