Ship Wreck Tugboat - Curaçao Southeast

The Tugboat wreck at Caracas Bay is one of those sites we always recommend, especially for newer divers or anyone looking for a relaxed, colourful dive. It’s a dinky little wreck, sitting upright in about five metres of water, perfectly preserved and absolutely smothered in coral. We love how accessible it is; you can fin out from shore, and it’s usually calm enough for an easy entry, making it ideal for a long bottom time. Down there, the wreck itself is fascinating, small enough to circle a few times and peer into the wheelhouse. Schools of glasseye snapper often shelter inside, their eyes catching the light. Parrotfish graze constantly on the hull, leaving tell-tale scrape marks. We’ve spotted hawksbill turtles cruising past the stern more than once, completely unbothered by divers. Look closely and you’ll find plenty of four-fin blennies peeking out of holes, and the coral growth, particularly the great star coral, is just fantastic. It’s a great spot for underwater photography, with shallow depths ensuring good light penetration and rich colours.
