Bajos del Caballo - Bayahibe & La Romana

Rosser Reef is one of those places we always try to get back to if we’re in the area. It doesn’t scream for attention like some of the big-name sites, but it delivers consistent, beautiful diving, particularly if you appreciate coral architecture. We always find the staghorn coral formations here mesmerising, twisting upwards like intricate underwater cities. Swim through them and you might spot a well-camouflaged Coral Hawkfish perched, or a brilliant Citron Butterflyfish flitting past. What makes Rosser special is that feeling of being truly immersed in a healthy, thriving ecosystem. We've often spent an entire dive just exploring a single patch, discovering Gardiner's Headshield Slugs making their way across a colony of Cactus Coral, or watching Small Giant Clams snap shut as you pass. It’s not about big pelagics here, though you never know what might cruise by. It's about the detailed tapestry of reef life. We’d suggest going in the morning; the light filtering through the water really brings out the colours of the corals and makes those schools of fusiliers glimmer. Rosser Reef is perfect for divers who love to take their time, appreciate the smaller wonders, and truly soak in the health of the Great Barrier Reef.
