San Pedro - Belize - Ambergris Caye

Teonai isn't as famous as Tiputa, but we think it’s a brilliant dive, especially if you're looking for something a bit less intense. You start on the outer reef, easing down the drop-off to a plateau at about 20 meters. It’s a comfortable depth, plenty of light, and the visibility is often a generous 25 meters plus. We love that it feels like a giant, calm aquarium. The real show here is the sheer volume of schooling fish. You'll swim through massive clouds of fusiliers, bannerfish, and yellowtail dascyllus. We've seen so many horse mackerel here, they sometimes make the water shimmer. Keep an eye out for gray reef sharks patrolling the edges and, if you're lucky, an eagle ray gliding past. It's a fantastic drift, really easy, and a perfect site for enjoying a relaxed current and soaking in the classic Rangiroa fish action without the big channel drama.
