Barefoot Divers - Roatán
The team at Barefoot Divers are our kind of people. They run a slick operation from Barefoot Cay, a little private island just off Roatán. It’s ideal if you’re looking for that boutique resort vibe, where the dive shop knows your name and what fin size you wear by day two. We love their personalised approach, especially for divers looking to go pro or just seriously level up their skills; being an IDC centre means top-notch instruction is just part of the everyday. Hopping on their boats, we’ve found ourselves drifting over healthy reefs like Valley of the Kings, where the coral formations look like ancient ruins and you’ll often spot a reef shark cruising by. Our favourite thing here, though, is how accessible the boat dives are to so many sites. You’re often at the first buoy in under ten minutes, which means more time in the water and less chugging along. Keep an eye out for their afternoon trips; they can be a bit quieter and we’ve had some cracking encounters with eagle rays gliding through the clear blue then. While the resort feel isn’t for every budget, for a dedicated dive vacation where everything is handled, Barefoot Divers really hits the mark.
