Elsie's Aquarium
Why dive here
With 210+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, dolphins, eagle rays, nurse sharks and sea turtles - Elsie's Aquarium offers some of Utila's richest diving. Water ranges 27-30°C, warmest August, September, October.
Elsie’s Aquarium is one of those Utila sites that delivers consistent, easy diving. We often drift along the wall, keeping an eye out for green sea turtles munching on sponges or a curious barracuda eyeing us from the blue. Look closely in the cracks and crevices, and you’ll spot spotted drums doing their dance, or the iridescent blue of a Pedersen shrimp tending to a cleaning station. It’s a great spot for a relaxed morning dive, perfect for photographers or anyone wanting to just enjoy the reef without a fight.
