White Hole - Corn Islands

White Hole is one of our absolute favourite dives in the Corn Islands. It’s an advanced site, no two ways about it, often with a decent current pushing you through, but that’s part of the fun. You drop into this bright, sandy clearing, a perfect circle carved out of the reef at about 18 metres, and it just glows. That sand makes the whole place feel expansive, drawing your eye to the surrounding wall of corals – big stands of thin leaf lettuce coral and staghorn reaching out. We love settling in the sand, just watching. You’ll spot a sand stargazer peeking out, or a goldspot goby darting back into its burrow. The current brings in the bigger stuff, too. We’ve had great barracuda cruising by, and there’s always a chance for something truly special, like a hammerhead, though those are pretty shy. It's not a dive for macro enthusiasts really, more about the overall feel and those potential big animal encounters. The reef itself is healthy, full of chalk bass and grunts, but the real draw is the unique topography and that electrifying possibility of a pelagic visitor. Come prepared for a drift, and you’ll love it.
