Bula Maker? We love it. It’s a riot of colour and a great alternative when the currents elsewhere in Somosomo are really ripping. The wall starts shallow, just a couple of metres, then drops to around 19m, riddled with swim-throughs and small canyons. Our favourite part is navigating those crevices, ducking under arches draped in soft coral, a vibrant tapestry of pinks and purples. Keep an eye out for nudibranchs tucked into every nook.
We’ve seen more banded sea kraits here than almost anywhere else, elegantly winding their way along the reef edge. Moray eels peek from their holes, and we often spot green or hawksbill turtles lazily cruising by. This is a site where you want to go slow, poke around, and soak in the details. It’s an easy dive, good for most experience levels, and often has decent visibility, usually around 15 metres. We’d suggest a morning dive; the light really brings out the soft corals.
