Truk Lagoon - Chuuk (Truk) Lagoon

Truk Lagoon isn't just a dive site, it’s a time capsule. Dropping onto the deck of a freighter at 30 meters, you’re not just seeing history, you’re swimming through it. We love the sheer scale of the place; full supply holds with gas masks, ammunition, and even tanks still lashed to the deck. It’s eerie, but also completely captivating. The wrecks here are smothered in corals, an artificial reef system thriving on tragedy. Look closely and you’ll find nudibranchs crawling over artillery shells, while schools of fusiliers swirl around cargo cranes. Our favourite dive is often one of the larger freighters, like the San Francisco Maru, where the hold exploration feels like an archaeological dig. Just remember to be mindful of your buoyancy; silt-outs happen fast. This place is perfect for intermediate wreck divers who appreciate both history and the incredible tenacity of marine life reclaiming these steel giants.
